Keiah Shauku is a proud native of Western New York who is deeply committed to building inclusive, thriving communities. She is passionate about education and dedicated to creating pathways that expand access to opportunity, foster individual growth, and drive regional prosperity. Her work focuses on finding innovative, impactful solutions to address the barriers that have shaped—and too often limited—people’s lives.

Keiah currently serves as Program Director for the East Buffalo Development Corporation, where she leads residential and commercial development projects designed to create an economically vibrant East Buffalo. Previously, she was the Director of Community Engagement at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, where she worked alongside community members to design programs that made the museum a more welcoming and representative cultural space. Earlier in her career, she directed UBRI’s Open4 Program, collaborating with funders, grantees, and partners to strengthen Western New York’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Her professional journey began in the U.S. Army as a Korean Crypto Linguist, where she gained firsthand experience in cross-cultural collaboration, critical thinking, and leadership under pressure. Those lessons continue to shape her belief in the power of community, diversity, and effectiveness. Since then, Keiah has championed educational initiatives, particularly in STEAM fields, to foster critical thinking, build self-efficacy, and expand opportunities for women and people of color to excel in high-demand professions.
